Creatures like hermit crabs might start climbing on it more often. Because hermit crabs become more active in the presence of corals.
On top of that, they’ll start climbing on it more if it starts to die. This is because these crabs feed on dead flesh. Among other creatures, do you have goby in your tank?
Then, you’ll see it shifting sand to where the Elegance Coral is instead of other places.
Slime Coming Out
This is a visible yet very dangerous symptom. First, you’ll see the tentacles behaving oddly, as mentioned above.
You’ll also see brown slime coming out of the closed tentacles.
This is a sign of Brown Jelly Disease. This disease is common for certain other corals too. Many Torch Corals also can’t survive this disease without proper care.
Strange Behaviour of Tentacles
The most common symptom is that the tentacles will be all crinkled up. Along with that, the tentacles will be closed up in some places.

Reason 1 of 4: Brown Jelly Disease
As we said before, slime from the coral tentacles indicates Brown Jelly Disease. This is a very contagious disease, so you must be extra careful.
Solution
What you can do in this case is to siphon the jelly out of the coral. Be careful not to let the jelly blow off into the surroundings accidentally.
When performing this task, be sure to keep the Elegance Corals isolated. All other corals and creatures must be removed.
Reason 2 of 4: Insufficient Nutrients
Another reason for the declining health of the Coral may be related to its nutrients. It might not be getting what it requires. Or, you might be providing it with the wrong nutrients.
Solution
For Elegance Corals, two things are mandatory to provide in the correct quantity.
You must ensure that your beloved coral gets 1200-1400 ppm of Manganese.
You need to give your Elegance Corals around 400-450 ppm of Iodine as well.
Reason 3 of 4: Incorrect Water Flow
Similar to nutrients, the right water flow and lighting contribute to the coral’s life span too.
After all, Elegance Corals are sensitive and hard to maintain. So, they can’t live properly under a heavy water flow.
Solution
You should provide low water flow for them if your tank’s flow is too much. The water flow shouldn’t exceed a moderate flow.

Reason 4 of 4: Water Not Changed
To properly maintain these corals, the water in the tank must be changed regularly. Normally, it’s recommended to change to 20% of water per week.
However, if you’re too busy to do that, your coral may suffer.

Changing 10% of water per week will suffice. But still, you must change 20% of the water after every two weeks mandatorily.
